SPParks Annual General Meeting


It was a dark and stormy night on November 15, but thirty two stalwart SPParks members, guests and staff gathered at the Toscano Hotel and Kitchen for our Annual General Meeting. We sipped prosecco and made merry in the front room before adjourning to the kitchen for Mary's pizza and to attend to the business part of the meeting.

Brief presentations were made by board members and Rob Pickett. Stephen Hamiton reported that we were in good financial shape, thanks mostly to the retailing acumen of our Barracks store manager, Patrick Kearney. Patrick graciously accepted the compliment but added that he needed more volunteers on the sales floor if we are to keep up the good performance. Please see Patrick if you can volunteer for a few hours each week.

Yvonne Bowers was re-elected Board Chair. Patrick Garcia chose to not stand for re-election; he received a gift from the board and was lauded for his many years of service to the parks and the association. Scott Pace was reelected to the board after being out of town for a few years. Suzanne Berube was also elected to the board; Suzanne is quite familiar with board operations after serving as liaison from the Docent Organization for the past two years. The meeting was adjourned with accolades to Dave Brummett, Jim Danaher and Jeff Weiss for organizing an event enjoyed by all.
