On March 2, 2022, about twenty docents were given a tour of the Mission Museum at the Cline Winery by Kyle Ritchie, tasting room manager. The Museum houses models of the California Missions that were created for and displayed at the Golden Gate International Exhibition of 1939. The winery site was the first location chosen by Father Altimira for the Sonoma Mission, but then rejected. Kyle told us about that history, showed us through an adobe building constructed with bricks from the Casa Grande of General Vallejo, and then led us to the Mission Museum. In addition to the models, one wall frames a large stained glass window from the Mission Dolores in San Francisco that was uncovered during mission restoration. There is also a life-like statue of Junipero Serra. Kyle was a gracious and knowledgeable host and we all learned a great deal.
