Honoring our Ancestors: 246th Anniversary of the Dedication of El Presidio Real de San Francisco

We celebrate the 246th anniversary of the incredible 1800-mile journey made by soldados, colonists, and families, up the trail of the second Juan Bautista de Anza Expedition of 1775-76. This year the event will be entirely virtual. The program will present the history from Sonora and Horcasitas of the migration of this racially diverse and integrated group of Spanish subjects to their new homes and new lives in San Francisco. Included will be formal remarks, presentations of music, the Roll Call of the Founders, Flower Ceremony, and the Formal Dedication of the Presidio. This year the First People on the southern trail will be included with a Barbareño descendant and an ambassador of Chumash culture, Ernestine Ygnacio De Soto.
